This calculator estimates the monthly SEO budget your business needs. Answer five questions and it recommends one of four plans, from £99 a month to a Custom price for larger businesses. It runs in your browser and asks for no contact details.
Example Estimates
These three examples show how different answers lead to different plans.
| Business | Answers | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Plumber in one town | Trade, maps matter, one town, medium competition, under 20 pages | Pro, £349 a month |
| Small online shop | Online shop, maps do not matter, one location, medium competition, 20 to 100 pages | Growth, £199 a month |
| New consultancy | Startup, maps do not matter, one location, low competition, under 20 pages | Starter, £99 a month |
How the Estimate Is Worked Out
The calculator checks four rules in order and stops at the first one that matches.
- Custom if you serve four or more locations, have over 500 products, or run a large site in a highly competitive market.
- Pro, £349 if customers find you on Google Maps, or your market is highly competitive.
- Growth, £199 if you run an online shop, face medium competition, serve two or three towns, or have more than 20 pages.
- Starter, £99 for everything else: one location, low competition and a small site.
The rules are a starting point. The free audit looks at your actual competitors and can move the recommendation up or down.
What Changes the Cost of SEO
Five factors decide how much SEO work a business needs each month.
- Competition: more sites chasing the same searches means more pages and content are needed to outrank them.
- Map results: businesses that win customers from Google Maps need Google Business Profile work.
- Locations: each town or branch needs its own page and citations.
- Site size: more pages and products take more hours to optimise and keep healthy.
- Starting point: a new website needs set-up first; an older site may need fixes first.

SEO Cost Questions
How much does SEO cost in the UK?
Published UK SEO packages run from about £90 to over £1,000 a month, based on the prices NextMark, Wrise and Phoenix Web Services showed on their websites on 12 October 2026. PennyRank’s plans cost £99, £199 or £349 a month, or a Custom price.
Is the calculator’s estimate a quote?
No. The calculator suggests a plan from five answers. The free SEO audit then checks your site and your competitors, and confirms the plan on a short call.
Why does Google Maps visibility point to Pro?
Google Business Profile work, which drives map results, is part of the Pro plan only. A business that wins most customers from map results therefore needs Pro, whatever its size.
